HS-9 SEA GRIFFINS

On I June 1956, the Navy's first all weather helicopter squadron was established at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island as Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron NINE (HS-9). After twelve years of dedicated service to the fleet, HS-9 was disestablished in October 1968. On 4 June 1976 the Sea Griffins were called back to duty as HS-9 was restablished at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. The squadron was disestablished on 23 April, 1993.
